U.S. Executes Sustained Precision Strikes Against ISIS Targets in Syria Following Deadly Ambush

MIDDLE EAST - U.S. Central Command forces conducted 10 strikes against more than 30 ISIS targets in Syria between February 3 and 12, delivering precision munitions via fixed-wing, rotary-wing, and unmanned aircraft to dismantle infrastructure and weapons storage sites.

These operations extend prior actions from January 27 to February 2 that targeted a communication site, logistics node, and storage facilities, resulting in the destruction of critical assets.

The efforts form part of Operation Hawkeye Strike, launched in December 2025, which has eliminated or captured over 50 ISIS operatives and struck more than 100 infrastructure targets using hundreds of precision munitions over the past two months.

The campaign addresses persistent ISIS threats in central Syria, where the group exploits remote desert areas for concealment despite significant territorial setbacks.

U.S. military assessments emphasize the need to prevent resurgence amid the power vacuum following the Assad regime’s collapse in late 2024. Coordination with partner forces, including the Syrian Democratic Forces and Jordanian military, has enabled effective targeting while minimizing risks to civilians.

ISIS Attempts To Reconstitute By Leveraging Regional Instability

Intelligence indicates ISIS attempts to reconstitute by leveraging instability, prompting intensified aerial operations. Recent strikes have focused on degrading command and control elements, with battle damage assessments confirming reduced capabilities in affected zones. The integration of advanced surveillance technologies supports precise engagements.

Broader regional dynamics influence the operation’s scope, as Syria transitions toward inclusive governance. The Syrian government’s recent membership in the Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS underscores commitments to secure thousands of detainees and family members in camps.
