NWS / NOAA weather: Flash Flood Warning issued August 16 at 9:38AM HST until August 16 at 12:00PM HST by NWS Honolulu HI
At 938 AM HST, Doppler radar indicated a band of moderate to heavy
rain over the northern half of Oahu moving parallel to the Koolau
Mountains. Rain was falling at a rate of 1 to 1.5 inches per hour.
Several streams in this area, including Waiahole Stream in Kahaluu
and Heeia Stream in Haiku, remain at elevated or rising water levels.
A significant rise has also been observed on the Waikane Stream.
Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly and could
result in additional road closures, especially along portions of
Kamehameha Highway on the windward side.
HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by heavy rain.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,
highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor
drainage and low-lying areas.

Waikane, Waiahole, Mililani, Punaluu, Kaaawa, Wahiawa, Kahaluu,
Pearl City, Wheeler Field, Ahuimanu and Hauula.
