The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
The island of Maui in Maui County

* Until 500 AM HST.

* At 207 AM HST, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain bands across
Maui. Rain was falling at a rate of 1 to 2.5 inches per hour with
the heaviest rainfall over the south and east slopes of Haleakala.
Local streams are rising quickly and flash flooding is ongoing or
expected to begin shortly.

HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by heavy rain.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,
highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor
drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Kipahulu, Kihei, Kula, Pukalani, Makawao, Haliimaile, Keokea, Paia,
Puunene, Haiku-Pauwela and Pauwela.
