The France Canyon Burn Scar in...
Southwestern Garfield County in southern Utah...
* Until 630 PM MDT.
* At 440 PM MDT, Additional thunderstorms tracking in from the
northwest are expected to move into the France Canyon burn scar
within the 30-45 minutes. These storms will have the potential to
produce additional debris flows downstream of the burn scar, but
are not as strong the earlier thunderstorm.
Per earlier update...Garfield County emergency management that a
debris flow with a 10-15 foot head to the flow has moved out of
Proctor Canyon and is depositing on the alluvial fan and pond that
was previously dried up. Between 0.75 and 1.5 inches of rain have
fallen. Flash flooding is already occurring.
Excessive rainfall over the burn scar will result in debris flow
moving through the Proctor Canyon downstream towards Hatch. The
debris flow can consist of rock, mud, vegetation and other loose
materials.
