NWS / NOAA weather: Typhoon Warning issued July 5 at 3:40PM ChST by NWS Tiyan GU

* WHAT...A Typhoon Warning remains in effect through at least
Tuesday night.

* WHERE...Marianas Coastal Waters.

* WHEN...Damaging winds expected from through early Tuesday morning.
Destructive typhoon force winds expected early Monday morning through
Monday afternoon with the passage of Super Typhoon Bavi.

* IMPACTS...Sustained winds of near 140 kt with gusts to 170 kt
near the center. Seas of up to 45 feet near the storm center.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Typhoon conditions, including winds of
64 knots or more, are expected within the next 24 hours as Super
Typhoon Bavi (09W) approaches the Marianas. Bavi is maintaining
strength at high-end Category 4 to low Category 5. However, there
is still uncertainty as to which islands will receive the strongest
impacts due to irregular longitudinal shifts in motion. The
latest model guidance continues to indicate a path near or just
north of Rota, but the forecast track will likely continue to have
minor track shifts during the next 24 hours. All of the islands will
see impacts. The islands closest to the storm center passage will
experience significantly worse conditions.
