NWS / NOAA weather: Flash Flood Warning issued July 3 at 12:30AM CDT until July 3 at 5:15AM CDT by NWS Des Moines IA

At 1230 AM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 3
and 6 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1
to 3 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is
ongoing or expected to begin shortly.

HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing
flash flooding.

SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges.

IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams,
urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.

Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Ankeny, Johnston, Newton, Bondurant, Polk City, Colfax, Granger,
Baxter, Iowa Speedway, Saylorville Lake, Big Creek Lake, Elkhart,
Alleman, Sheldahl, Mingo, Lambs Grove, Valeria, Newton Municipal
Airport and Big Creek State Park.

Expect significant flash flooding in the Fourmile Creek Basin.
